Angola: Elections202 - Unita Calls for Tolerance Among Contenders

Luanda — UNITA appealed Wednesday in Luanda for the observance of a climate of tolerance and respect among the parties competing for the general elections of 24 August.

The appeal was made by its provincial secretary Nelito Ekukui during the door-to-door mobilisation campaign held in the district of Ramiros, municipality of Belas.

Speaking to the press, he said it was necessary to "plant" common sense among the Angolans, so that the election could be a true celebration of democracy.

"In a democracy, we have to respect for all the examples of political apparatus, just like in the soccer game happens, because intolerance and arrogance doesn't work", he said.
