Angola: Elections 2022 - MPLA Confident in People's Vote

Malanje — MPLA's first secretary in northern Malanje province Norberto dos Santos "Kwata Kanawa", said Wednesday that the actions of the National Development Plan contributed to "renew the confidence" of the population in the province.

The politician expressed the party's confidence during a mass rally presided over by the leader of MPLA, João Lourenço, as part of the campaign for the general elections of 24 August.

Norberto dos Santos noted that the confidence in the vote from the population of Malanje is a result of the improvements made in the last five years in the region.

He pointed to the economic and social fields, with highlight to interconnection of municipalities, the development of family farming and the expansion of higher education.

Kwata Kanawa mentioned access to university education for more young people, with the creation of the Queen Njinga University in Mbande.

The provincial secretary said that in the term which is about to end, despite being marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, renewed the hope of Malanje residents for a better future and confidence in the completion of ongoing projects.

At the beginning of the rally, the head of the ruling MPLA party's list, João Lourenço, received as an offer a replica of the bust of Queen Nginga to Mbande.

In Malanje, some 509,616 people are expected to vote for upcoming elections.
