Angola: Over 3 Mln Families to Join Agricultural Season

Lubango — At least 3.1 million rural families will join 2022-2023 agricultural campaign countrywide, who are expected to harvest 26.4 million tonnes of various food products.

The minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, Francisco Assis released the statistics on Saturday in Lubango, southern Huila province..

In order to ensure the production, the minister put at over 1.5 million acres prepared to produce, among other products, potatoes, cassava and sweet potatoes, pulses and oil seeds, fruit and vegetables.

The preparations for the start of the agricultural season is scheduled for November this year, he added.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries controles 1,979 cooperatives, with 797 of which are legalised.

There are 188,069 members and 7,402 peasant associations, 355 of which are legalised.
