Angola: MPLA Regrets Death of Brito Júnior

Luanda — The MPLA Political Bureau expressed consternation Monday at the death of Mateus Morais de Brito Júnior, happened on Saturday in Luanda, due to illness.

In a condolence note, the MPLA states that the deceased was a "renowned journalist, with signatures in several newspapers published in Angola, including the historic Tribuna dos Musseques and Angolense".

It adds that Brito Júnior will be remembered for having held the position of Minister of Public Works and Urbanism (1992-1996).

The ill-fated man was also a MP of the National Assembly and non-executive director of the state-owned news paper "Edições Novembro", among others.
