Angola: Scott Nathan Leads Us Delegation to João Lourenço's Swearing-in Ceremony

Luanda — The United States of America (USA) has appointed the head of the Executive Council of the Corporation for International Development, Scott Nathan, to lead its delegation to the swearing-in ceremony of President João Lourenço.

The delegation includes the US ambassador to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, and the assistant of the official in charge of that country's Military Command for Africa, Andrew Robert Young. The composition of the delegation was determined on Tuesday (13) by the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden.

The inauguration ceremony of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and of the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, takes place on Thursday (15), in Luanda, and results from the victory of the MPLA and its leader, by 51.17 percent in the August 24 general elections.

Angola and the United States signed a strategic partnership agreement in 2010, and cooperate in several areas, with emphasis on trade, finance, energy, manufacturing, security, health and justice. Angola is the third largest US trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa, mainly due to oil exports.
