Angola: Salary Adjustments for Defence, Security Ensure Positive Remuneration - Minister

Luanda — Angolan minister of Finance Vera Daves has said that the salary adjustment for the staff of Defence and Security bodies aims to guarantee a "positive remuneration", based on the national minimum wage.

The Executive approved Wednesday the basic wage adjustments to the members of the sector of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA).

The session of the Cabinet Council, chaired by the head of State João Lourenço, also gave green light to the statute of career of National Police (PN) and the special careers of the executive services of the Interior Ministry.

Based on the decision, the draftee of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and the member enlisted in the National Police will receive 40,312.33 Kwanzas, against the previous 35,476 Kwanzas.

The members of the Armed Forces and the Navy, who earned 51,085 Kwanzas, rose to the 68,440 Kwanzas, said the Minister of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security, Teresa Dias.

Addressing a press conference, alongside the minister of Finance, Vera Daves, the official added that the salary for the military with the ranks of second corporal and those of Navy, change from 61, 728 to 78, 518 Kwanzas.

Also, under the salary adjustment, the officers who hold the rank of captains and majors no longer earn the previous 372,614 and are entitled to 410,017 Kwanzas.

The official said that these are adjustments coupled with arrears, starting from June to date, but with effect from October this year.
