Africa: Jumia in Deal to Deliver Coca-Cola Products Across Africa

22 September 2022

Nairobi — Jumia has announced a partnership with the Coca-Cola operating unit to deliver the firm's products to consumers across Africa.

The partnership will provide a steady supply of Coca-Cola's beverage portfolio to consumers who prefer to shop online through the e-commerce platform and ensure they receive their orders in the shortest time possible.

"We are happy to partner with Coca-Cola to meet consumer demand for everyday products at the fastest delivery time and at affordable prices," said Romain Christodoulou, Jumia's Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

The move by the e-commerce platform intends to increase Coca-Cola's assortment offered by Jumia and to support product delivery in the fastest time possible.

Moreover, the consumers will also enjoy promotions which include buy-one-get-one free' and discounts of up to 20 per cent on orders of Coca-Cola products.

The initial rollout will be in Kenya, Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Côte d'Ivoire, and Uganda.

"We are pleased to partner with Jumia as we strive to meet the needs of consumers across Africa by making our beverages available for delivery to their homes when they need them. Through this, we will be offering an alternative for easy and fast access to Coca-Cola brands across several beverage categories to hydrate and refresh," said Minas Vourodimos, Vice President for Customer & Commercial Leadership Coca-Cola Africa Operating Unit.

Jumia has recorded an increase in the purchase of products on its platform after the outbreak of Covi-19 as many consumers embraced online shopping.

Essential products and groceries emerged as the fast-growing category on Jumia according to the Africa e-commerce report titled Jumia Africa e-Commerce Index 2021.

The report further indicated a relatively low uptake of e-commerce in Africa after the pandemic broke out even though it led to a surge of use of digital solutions in food delivery and purchase of essentials and pharmaceutical goods as top performers in the online shopping category.
