Kenya: 4 Petitions Seeking Removal of Four IEBC Commissioners Presented to National Assembly

Nairobi — Four petitions seeking the removal of 4 commissioners at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have been presented before the National Assembly.

The petitions are against commissioners; Juliana Cherera,Irene Masit,Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyagaya who protested the August Presidential Election results announcement by the electoral Body's Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

Speaker Moses Wetangula subsequently directed the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee to look into the petitions and guide the house on whether they satisfy grounds of removal of one or all commissioners in question.

JLAC is expected to present a report to the House within 14 days.
