Angola At 50th Session of the UN Industrial Council

Luanda — Angolan minister of Industry and Commerce Victor Fernandes is attending the 50th session of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Council on 21- 23 Nov. in Vienna, Austria.

The participants are reviewing aspects of the impact of inclusive and sustainable industrial development, according to a note from the Ministry of Commerce reached ANGOP.

The source states that UNIDO will present documents on the achievement of industry targets as well as the strategies for the integration of gender empowerment actions, especially in rural areas.

The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) is the specialised agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalisation and environmental sustainability.

Angola participates in the event at a time the country already has an Industrial Development Plan (PDIA) 2025.

The document presented to the public in 2021 is estimated at USD 120 million, with 66% for public investment expenses (DIP).

Of this amount, 34% has been allocated to development support expenses (DAD), to attract private investors and increased national production.

With four axes of intervention, the PDIA-2025 lays down concrete actions to be implemented in the short and medium term.

The goal is to increase national and foreign investment in the industrial sector, in addition to defining an institutional and financing framework that enables its implementation in the country's 18 provinces.
