Nairobi — A section of North Eastern leaders have lauded President William Ruto for appointing three Principal Secretaries from the Arid and Semi-Arid counties.
The leaders led by Saku Member of Parliament Dido Rasso thanked the Head of State for appointing Kello Harsama(Crop Development), Mohammed Liban (Petroleum) and Idris Dogota (ASALs) as Principal Secretary nominees.
Rasso mentioned that for the first time, the communities from North Eastern region have been given three position in the government.
"These three appointments are historical. This is the first time since independence that the government has been able to appoint one of our own in those dockets. Never before has it ever happened," he said.
"We wish to convey our 'Thank You' to the President and to tell him that for the first time we feel like we are in government," Rasso added.
Rasso assured that the communities in Isiolo, Marsabit and Tana River counties will support the agenda of President Ruto's administration at the legislature as well the county level.
"We will be able to work with his government and support him and the agenda of Kenya Kwanza because we feel part and parcel of this government."
Marsabit Woman Rep Naomi Wako exuded confidence that the appointed Principal Secretaries will be able to deliver to Kenyans in their respective dockets.
"As leaders from the North Eastern region we want to thank the President for the appointments and we know that the leaders will play their part in the government," said Wako.
President Ruto presided over the fete at State House on Friday where he issued a stern warning to the officials, demanding that they must deliver.
He told the PSs that they are expected to diligently expedite their duties to serve Kenyans and not take their new postings to be private positions.
"The jobs and responsibilities and positions you have been given are not private, family or community position but opportunity to serve the entirety of the people of Kenya. I expect every PS to diligently work to the best of their ability to serve the 53 million Kenyans," he said.
The Head of State laid bare the fact that Kenyans had high expectations of his administration and the burden of delivery squarely lay on the shoulders of the PSs who must work as a unit.
"We must work in a manner that creates the synergy to build around the strengths of each and every one of us. I want to promise that as team leader that I will work with each and every one of you to deliver to the people of Kenya," observed the Head of State.
