Africa: Dwayne Wade's Son Agrees Cape Town Tigers Move Ahead of the BAL

4 February 2023

Zaire Wade, the son of NBA legend Dwayne Wade, has agreed to sign for the South African Basketball powerhouse Cape Town Tigers ahead of the 2023 Basketball Africa League.

Wade averaged 4.6 points and 1.9 assists in 13 games for the Utah Jazz's G League Salt Lake City Stars last season. The 1.85m guard took part in the BAL Combine event held in Paris and his father was in attendance watching from the stands.

The 21-year-old is believed to have joined the rest of the Tigers' roster immediately in preparation for the 2023 BAL season.

The BAL season will again feature the top 12 club teams from 12 African countries playing a total of 38 games in Dakar, Senegal; Cairo, Egypt; and Kigali, Rwanda, over a three-month span, from March to May.

Cape Town Tigers will play in the Nile Conference during a 15-game group phase at the Hassan Mostafa Indoor Sports Complex in Cairo from April 26 to May 6.

The top four teams from the two conferences will advance to an eight-game, single-elimination playoffs and finals that will take place from May 21-27 at BK Arena in Kigali.
