Kenya: Lawyer Paul Mwangi Says Raila Free to Travel Amid Sanction Threats

27 February 2023

Nairobi — City Lawyer Paul Mwangi has dismissed calls by President William Ruto's supporters to urge western countries to impose sanctions on Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader, Raila Odinga, for advocating mass action.

Mwangi in a tweet on Monday asserted that the former Prime Minister could still visit 195 nations across the world.

"And if you have to travel, Baba, there are 195 Countries in the world inhabited by the most magnificent of your brothers and sisters in creation," he said.

Mwangi's response came just a day after Odinga informed a People's Baraza gathering in Kitale that he has excellent relationships with several countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Ukraine, Russia, and all African nations.

The Azimio leader has vowed to continue pushing for justice and the betterment of Kenyans by pressing the Kenyan Kwanza government to lower the cost of living, and he will not allow himself to be intimidated.

National Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Owen Baya and other politicians allied to the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition have threatened to take measures against Odinga and urged the US, UK, and other western nations to take action against him.
