Kenya: UDA Plots Merger of Over 12 Political Parties Before 2027 Polls

Nairobi — The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is set to merge with all the parties within the Kenya Kwanza fold to form a big political machine in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

Secretary General Cleophas Malala says the objective of the merger is to build a perpetual political party with a semblance of the Amani National Congress of South Africa and the Democratic party in America.

The Party's interim Chairperson Cecily Mbarire also added that UDA is keen on ensuring that it does not become a seasonal party, as has been the norm of most Kenyan political parties which fold shortly after general elections.

18 other parties have signed coalition agreements with President Ruto's UDA, Amani National Congress (ANC) of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula's FORD-Kenya to form the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
