Nairobi — The High Court has upheld the victory of Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi's in the August 9 election.
In the ruling made by Justice George Dulu, he dismissed the claims that the gubernatorial election was marred with irregularities.
The petition was lodged by Jubilee's candidate Adan Mohamed Hassan claimed that the election process was marred with exaggeration of voter turnouts and irregular and unlawful assisted voting.
He also mentioned that there was the padding of votes and unlawful ejection of his agents from several polling stations in Wajir East and Wajir West constituencies.
The High Court dismissed the allegation fronted in the election petition saying that the petitioner had failed to produce enough evidence to show that the election was marred with irregularities.
"I find IEBC officials failed to countersign alterations in form 37a as alleged. I'm convinced that the alterations however were caused by human error which is excusable," Dulu stated.
Among the polling stations that the petitioners seek for inspection, scrutiny, and recount of all valid votes are Dadantalai Primary, Garsechukala Primary, Towfiq center, Junction, Anole Secondary School, Aresa Wajiyaqo Primary School and Masalale Mobile 1.
Abdullahi had bounced back into the county's top seat after garnering 35,533 votes in the recently concluded polls.
Abdullahi who was running on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket had served as Wajir County boss at the start of devolution between 2013 and 2017 before losing to Jubilee Party's Mohamed Abdi Mohamud in the last General election.
Abdullahi was closely followed by Jubilee Party's Hassan Mohammed Adan who got 27,224 and former Deputy governor Ahmed Ali Mukhtar who massed 21,859.
