Kenya: Court Nullifies Victory of Lagdera MP Abdikadir Hussein Mohammed

Nairobi — It is a blow to Lagdera Member of P Abdikadir Hussein Mohammed after the High Court nullified his victory.

In the petition which was filed by his rival Abdiqani Zeitun of the United Democratic Alliance party, the court stated that it was marred with irregularities.

The High Court ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to conduct the poll afresh.

Hussein who won the seat on an ODM ticket has been given 14 days to appeal the decision of the High Court.

In the August 9th elections Hussein got 5,939 votes beating three opponents. They include Abdiqani Zeitun who got 4,863 votes and incumbent Mohamed Hire of Kanu who was third with 3,277 votes.
