The National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has issued a clarion call to Ugandans to be on standby for anything that will be required of them anytime soon.

Bobi Wine made the statements during a stopover in Gomba District after visiting Kasaka Secondary School to commiserate with the students and administration following a Sinotruck that claimed three students and injured 20 others when it rammed into the school building last month.

Speaking to eagerly awaiting locals, Bobi Wine told them to look at the events in neighbouring Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria and pick a leaf.

Kenya is currently experiencing protests from opposition leader Raila Odinga and his supporters, who are calling for the resignation of President William Ruto.

Meanwhile, in South Africa, the left-wing Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are engaged in nationwide protests calling for the resignation of President Cyril Ramaphosa whom they accuse of mishandling the country's economy.

Nigeria on the other part is also experiencing protests challenging the election outcome that presented Ahmed Bola Tinubu as President.

In light of both events, Bobi Wine called upon his supporters to be alert, "something is coming up here".

"You are seeing the things happening in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa, therefore mobilise yourselves wherever you are, so that when the time comes, no one remains seated," Bobi said.

"You will see it, the time is coming, and you will understand it," Bobi added.

The last protests involving Bobi Wine either directly or indirectly happened in November 2020. The 3-day violent riots let the death of 54 people by shooting.

In a speech later, President Museveni said he was aware the riots were funded to destabilize Uganda, adding that "when it happens, we act".

The president further indicated that government would not compensate any victims that were rioters when they lost their lives.
