Kenya Revenue Authority Commences Search for New Commissioner General

Nairobi — The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has commenced the search for a new Commissioner-General following the exit of Githii Mburu in February.

Mburu opted to resign less than eight months into his new term, to pursue personal interests.

Currently, the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes, Rispah Simiyu, is serving in the position in an acting capacity.

In an advertisement published on local dailies, the taxman called for applications to the position with the deadline set for April 25.

"The Commissioner General is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Authority, the management of its funds and for providing leadership to the Authority's staff," the advert read.

Successful candidates for the post will be required to have a Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics or Law and have at least 15 years of experience with 10 at the senior leadership level in large public or private entities.

"A contract of employment with an attractive and competitive package with be offered to the successful candidate. This position is on a five-year contract renewable once based on performance," the advert read.

Mburu's resignation was announced on the same day the KRA board replaced three of seven managers on the agency's top executive team.

The executives replaced after Mburu's exit included Lilian Nyawanda (Commissioner, of Customs and Border Control), Terra Saidimu (Commissioner, of Intelligence & Strategic Operations), and David Kinuu (Commissioner, of Corporate Support Services).

David Mwangi, David Yego, and Nancy Ngetich took up their respective roles in an acting capacity.
