Kenya: No! We're Not Privatising City Mortuary, Governor Sakaja Says

Nairobi — Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has allayed fears that his administration is in the process of privatizing City Mortuary in the ongoing modernization initiative.

This follows concerns raised by netizens after the City County administration announced plans to open a private wing at the mortuary.

"There have been stories going around of privatisation. That's not true. This facility will continue providing services to mwananchi. What we are doing is ensuring that we upscale equipment like coolers and ensure they are fully functional and mortuary services are provided without any delay. We will have a customer service office that will ensure customer needs and queries are resolved in real-time," Sakaja said Sunday when he toured the facility, accompanied by his officials.

Governor Sakaja asked the contractor to fast-track the completion of the remaining works in the facility to ensure the effective provision of quality healthcare preservation services.

Governor Sakaja also inspected the ongoing construction of Mtongwe road next to Mbagathi Hospital.
