Kenya: Odinga Says He Will Move to Court Over Commission of Inquiry Into Shakohola Massacre

Nairobi — Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Leader Raila Odinga says he will move to challenge the formation of Commission of Inquiry to probe Shakahola Massacre.

Speaking in Kilifi County, Odinga accused President William Ruto of usurping the role of Parliament adding the Executive cannot investigate it self in a matter where its officers has been adversely mentioned.

This comes after President Ruto appointed Lady Justice Jessie Lessit to chair the commission of inquiry into the Shakohola Forest Massacre Tragedy.

The commission will also inquire into the factors that lead to the rise of that particular religious extremist institution and other formations that foster negative religion-based activities.

Over 100 bodies have been recovered from graves in Shakahola forest in Kilifi county, following a cult led by Paul Mackenzie Nthenge, who urged his followers to starve to death in order to find God.
