Kenya: Bishop Oginde Takes Oath as New Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission Chairperson

Former Christ is the Answer Ministry (CITAM) Church Presiding Bishop David Oginde has been sworn in as the new Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chairperson.

Oginde's swearing in at the Supreme Court on Tuesday was presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

In his acceptance speech, Oginde said he was alive to the fact that corruption remains a significant threat to the country.

"Let me at the onset acknowledge that corruption is our worst enemy in this country. It is deep rooted, it is widespread, it flies high to the heavens and continues to adversely impact every sector of our public life," said Oginde.

He further thanked his predecessor Anglican Archbishop (Rtd) Eliud Wabukala who has been at the helm of the commission for six years.

Koome reminded Oginde of the vitality of the anti corruption commission in the country's quest to uphold the rule of law.

"You have a huge responsibility to lead an institution that is safeguarding public interest and promoting public confidence," said Koome.
