One of the promising rising female artistes of Rwanda, Kaya Byanshii, has announced that her first African tour will kick off on May 27.
The tour, dubbed 'Tournee Afrique', will be a collaborative tour of Kaya Byinshii alongside Nigeria's Aunty Rayzor, and will reach 10 cities of six different African countries.
Kaya, who represented Rwanda in the Prix Découvertes RFI in 2021, was selected by the Institut Français du Rwanda to represent Rwanda in the upcoming tour.
Speaking to The New Times, Kaya said that these upcoming shows will help her expand and promote her art in the six African countries she is expected to stage in.
"Honestly, I always wondered how far my music would go. Now that it happened this is the beginning and it says a lot!" Kaya said, adding, "I feel blessed to be able to share my music with other people live. It's a huge opportunity because I will be representing Rwanda."
These concerts will begin on May 27, in Kampala (Uganda), and continue in Algiers, Annaba, Constantine, Tlemcen and Oran (Algeria), Djibouti, Nairobi (Kenya), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and Kigali (Rwanda).
In all the 10 shows, the singer will be accompanied by Michael Makembe who will be performing with her and helping her in various other activities.
She is one of the musicians who represented Rwanda at the coronation ceremony of the King of England where she performed in a joint choir together with other singers from around the world.
Kaya specialised in singing, playing the guitar, and sings a variety of genres including Reggae, Blues, Hip Hop and others.
On October 9, 2020, she released her first Extended Play [EP] titled 'Nyabyinshi' consisting of seven songs.'
One year later she released her first album called 'Ukwiyuburura' which consists of 12 songs.
