Kenya: Arati Urges Gusii MPs to Reject Finance Bill 2023

Kisii — Kisii Governor Simba Arati has called Members of Parliament from the Gusii region to reject the 2023 financial bill saying the bill will worsen the country's economy which is already crippled.

Arati said President William Ruto should listen to the cries of Kenyans who are struggling with the high cost of living imposing the bill which will force them to dig deep in their pockets to pay the many taxes.

"High cost of living is driving Kenyans crazy, people are strolling with a poor economy and for many of us, we reject this bill which means no goodwill to Kenyans," said Arati.

Kisii Women rep Dorice Aburi said she will reject the bill and said it will instead oppress Kenyans with more tax and increase prices of commodities such as sanitary towels, this means girls will not afford them and miss classes when having their menstrual cycle.

"The financial bill will affect women more than men because they aren't economically empowered and yet the bill will tax women more than men," said Aburi.

We have gone to the villages and listened to our people; they don't want the financial bill because the tax will make them strain more with the crippled economy.

We call upon our fellow lawmakers to listen to the voices of your people and reject the financial bill.
