Kenya: Siaya DG Oduol's Fate With Senate After County Assembly Impeached Him

Siaya — Siaya deputy governor, Wlliam Oduol has been impeached by the Siaya County assembly, following the recommendations of an ad hoc committee set up to probe his conduct.

A session chaired by speaker of the assembly, George Okode and attended by all the 42 members of the assembly saw the members vote overwhelmingly to send the deputy governor.

Oduol has been at loggerheads with his boss, James Orengo.

His fate now lies with the Senate.

The committee probing him had stated that it substantiated all the allegations against him that include abuse of office and gross misconduct.

In its report, the committee further indicated that it had proved the violation of the constitution charge against him.

It stated that it relied on documented submissions from the witnesses', interrogation of written submissions, review of relevant legal statutes and findings.

The special committee also proved allegations of bullying and misleading the public by giving false information. - Kna
