Kenya: Scam Alert! Beware of Fake Job Ad for Various Positions At Nairobi's Popular Quiver Lounge And Grill

IN SHORT: One of the most frequented entertainment venues in the Kenyan capital is not hiring, despite what an ad posted on Facebook would have you believe.

An ad posted on the Facebook page "JOB SITE IN KENYA" announced job openings at a popular entertainment venue in Nairobi, Kenya.

The ad says that because of "the increase number of people" it wants to add supervisors, waiters, security guards, cleaners, CCTV controllers, chefs and cooks to its workforce.

The post includes a photo of the Quiver Lounge & Grill, which in April 2022 hosted Kenyan president William Ruto while he was on the campaign trail.

It also includes salary ranges for these positions. Interested candidates in the capital Nairobi and surrounding areas are encouraged to contact the recruitment officer on a listed phone number.

We contacted the number and were asked for details including full name, current location, level of education and work experience.

We were then asked by a "Miss Carolyne" to come to an office on Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi at 10am the next day for an interview.

But is this opportunity legitimate?

Ignore fake job advert

Quiver Lounge & Grill has dismissed the ad as fake in a warning posted on its official Facebook page.

"The information attached here in is FAKE, please don't be a victim of online scamming, any available opportunities will/shall be advertised exclusively on our official pages," they wrote.
