Kenya: EACC Detectives Arrest Thika MCA for Soliciting Sh130,000 Bribe

Nairobi — The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have apprehended Kiambu Deputy Speaker John Njue Njiru, for soliciting a Sh130,000 bribe.

Detectives say Njiru who also doubles up as the Hospital Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Thika is also accused of demanding a free portion of prime land belonging to the complainant.

The requested land was supposedly intended to 'facilitate' and have the complainant permitted to proceed with any activity on her property valued at Sh15 million.

Njiru is currently held at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station where he is recording a statement.
