Kenya: Police Recover Vandalized Grid Components Valued at Sh11 Million in Kiambu

Nairobi — Detectives in Kiambu County have recovered vandalized electricity grip items valued at Sh11 million in Kiambu's Denderu area.

The items were confiscated at a scrap metal yard on Sunday evening.

The recovery followed a raid trap at the metal yard owned by one Patrick King'ori, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated.

One suspect linked to the metal yard named Florence Kariuki was arrested during the raid.

Transformer fuses, pilon bindings, transformer laminations, transformer shells, high tension cables among other equipment vandalized from power lines were among the recovered items.

"One suspect identified as Florence Kariuki, 30 was arrested during the raid as efforts to arrest the main suspect intensify," DCI said.
