The Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, the African Union Commission and the African Tax Administration Forum will jointly launch the 2023 Tax Transparency in Africa 2023 report on the 6th of July at 9 am UST (7 am GMT).

The launch will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, and will be streamed live for online participants. The event will include a report presentation and panel discussions featuring experts from partner organizations. The African Development Bank is a contributor to the report.

The 2023 edition covers 38 African countries. It seeks to inform decision makers and citizens on the continent's progress and challenges about transparency and the exchange of information for tax purposes.

Speakers will include Mr. Enoch Godongwana, South Africa's Minister of Finance; Mr. Louis-Paul Motaze, Cameroon's Minister of Finance; Ms. Zayda Manatta, Head of the Global Forum Secretariat; Mr. Albert M. Muchanga, Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Industry and Mining, African Union Commission and Ms. Manal Corwin, Director of the OECD's Centre for Tax Policy and Administration.

Mr. Abdoulaye Coulibaly, African Development Bank Group Director for Governance and Economic Reforms, will represent the institution at the meeting. The Bank Group has had long collaboration with the Global Forum and is a key partner of the Africa Initiative.

Tax Transparency in Africa is a key output of the Africa Initiative, established in 2014 to ensure that African countries are equipped to exploit the latest improvements in global transparency, to better tackle tax evasion and other illicit financial flows and improve domestic resource mobilization to support their economic development.
