Kenya: Kamani, 3 Others Acquitted in Sh3.5 Billion Anglo Leasing Case for Lack of Evidence

Nairobi — Businessman Deepak Kamani and three others have been acquitted of all charges in the sh3.5 billion Anglo Leasing scandal.

Kamani had been charged alongside Rashmi Kamani and former Principal Secretaries Joseph Magari and Dave Mwangi.

in acquitting the four, trial magistrate Martha Mutuku said the prosecution has failed to prove the charges against the four.

"The accused persons have all been acquitted under Section 210 of the criminal procedure code," she ruled Friday, "They have no case to answer and they have been set free."

They were facing charges of conspiring to defraud the government of Sh3.5 billion in 2004 in a modernisation project of the Police Security Equipment and Accessories.

They all denied the charges.
