Kenya: Kisumu Protestors Play Hide and Seek Game With Police as 4 Sustain Gunshot Wounds

Kisumu — Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Joshua Oron led a number of protestors in Kisumu outwitting the police as four people are nursing gunshot wounds in Migori County.

Traditionally, demonstrations always kick off in Kondele but owing to heavy presence of police the start off point was diverted at Manyatta estate.

Walking with a number of demonstrators, the MP manouvered through different routes within the estates.

They had intended to march towards Dunga beach at the shores of Lake Victoria but police mounted several roadblocks to disperse the protestors.

Nyaori Nyang, who took part in the protest said the intention was to avoid confrontation by the police.

"We are trying to avoid deaths and injuries caused by the police," said Nyaori.

The team was teargased at Nyalenda, blocking them from marching towards the lake.

Instead, the team diverted into the slums, drawing huge numbers as they passed by.

The march to Dunga was cut short as police used forced to break the demonstrators, with all scampering for safety.

In Migori County, 4 protestors are nursing gunshot wounds.

They were shot during an illegal demonstration.

According to Mike Ochere, Oruba nursing home administrator, the four are undergoing treatment at the facility.

They have been shot on the legs and thighs.
