Kenya: ODM Activist Charged With Using Abusive Language in Public

Nairobi — ODM activist Shadrack Omondi Orwa alias Omosh has been charged with offence threatening by using abusive words in a public place.

The accused who has been police custody in period of nine days, was produced before Magistrate Albert Shikwe where he denied a criminal charge a was released on a bond of Sh100,000 plus one surety.

The court gave him an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000 plus one contact .

Omosh through lawyer Danstan Omari while arguing application for bail said the charge sheet as framed does not disclose an offence in law.

He told the court that when the prosecution says he committed an offence at unknown place while addressing the public gathering does not disclose a criminal offence.

He said the accused is a young and aspiring politician in 2027. The ongoing political atmosphere is being misused by the state to harass politicians allied to the position.

The court directed the matter to be mentioned on August 2rd for pretrial.
