Kenya: Police Officer to Face Disciplinary Action Over Tik-Tok Post

Nairobi — The National Police Service says it will take disciplinary action against a police officer who went viral for reading comments against President William Ruto and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on popular social media platform, TikTok.

A statement by the service stated that they are probing the incident which it termed as misleading and reckless.

"The attention of the National Police Service is drawn to a video clip circulating on social media, depicting an improperly dressed 'Police Officer' making misleading and reckless remarks," the statement indicated.

"As a Disciplined Service, we wish to clarify and assure the public that the behaviour portrayed in the clip is not only unacceptable but also doesn't reflect the values of NPS."

The Service said actions of the said officer are regrettable and stand condemned in the strongest terms possible "even as we embark on an internal review with a view of preferring appropriate disciplinary action."

It emphasised that the National Police Service remains focused on training its Officers to the highest standards.
