The event aims to highlight issues relating to the structure and terms of debt incurred by African countries, and how this has affected debt sustainability and debt restructuring efforts. In addition to the important role of African Legal Support Facility's legal support, the webinar will promote dialogue and the sharing of lessons and experiences concerning the establishment of appropriate legal and contractual frameworks for effective debt management.

The webinar will also feature discussion of best practices to improve the contractual framework for sovereign debt architecture and other ways to improve countries' understanding of the importance of legal support in managing their debts.

The seminar is being organized with support from the Japanese government and the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA), a multi-donor fund hosted by the African Development Bank.

Interpretation services will be available in English and French.
