Kenya: Creative Industry Group Lauds Piracy Raids in Kiambu, Nairobi Counties

Nairobi — Partners Against Piracy (PAP) Association of Kenya, a creative industry group, has lauded the Kenya Copyright Board (Kecobo) for cracking down on two Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Nairobi and Kiambu counties.

This comes after Kecobo, together with the police, busted Kozi TV and Wavelink Network for infringing on premium content for thousands of subscribers.

Two suspects have been arrested, and a large amount of equipment, including computers and phones, was seized and forwarded to the Police Cybercrime Unit for further processing.

Consequently, approximately 6,000 customers are no longer able to view the premiere content that was infringing on rights.

These actions were aimed at curbing the illegal provision of infringing premiere content to thousands of subscribers.

Content infringement has a negative impact on the creative industry and the larger economy.
