Uganda: Preparations for Consecration of Bishop-Elect Tibaijuka for West Ruwenzori Diocese Nearly Done

The Church of Uganda is all set for its latest diocese, West Ruwenzori, in Bundibujo district with consecration of the Bishop Elect, Reverend Barnabas Tibaijuka set for the August 27, 2023, preparations are in high gear for the highly anticipated day.

Appearing on The Breakfast Meeting on NBS Television on August 10, Honourable Harriet Ntabazi, chairperson of the organising committee and state Minister of Trade, shared that preparations are well underway, with a 1000 people capacity cathedral fully constructed.

The diocese has budgeted shillings 690 million for the event with shillings 390 million in the bag. A fundraising dinner will be held at Sheraton Hotel on August 11 make up for the deficit.

She emphasised that this was a spiritual journey, and called upon dignitaries from all denominations to attend and contribute to the latest diocese.

Reverend Barnabas Tibaijuka, born May 8, 1975 in Butungama, Bundibugyo started his journey to Bishophood when he was ordained as a deacon in 2010, a priest in 2011, later serving as the Diocesan youth worker and vicar.

Honorable Jane Alisemera, also on the organising committee, commended the people of Ruwenzori for their contribution to the upcoming Diocese, and urged them to take advantage of their tourism traffic that is set to come into the region, before and after day Consecration day.

On the same show, Reverends Michael Bakasoma and Patrick Kamara were elated to have their very first Bishop, and thanked God, saying this has been a dream for over 40 years.
