The African Natural Resources Management and Investment Centre of the African Development Bank Group, cordially invites you to attend a hybrid workshop titled "FIMES Project Final Learning Workshop".

The webinar is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, 23rd and 24th August 2023, from 09:00 to 12:15 GMT. It will take place at the Bank headquarters in CCIA, Abidjan, with online participation.

Proper management of natural resource revenues, through enhanced domestic resource mobilisation is critical for achieving the Africa Mining Vision's goal of "transparent, equitable and optimal exploitation of Africa's mineral resources." However, a 2017 study on the use of financial modelling carried out by ECNR demonstrates that many African governments manage investments in their extractive sectors without a pertinent and robust analytical tool.

In Africa's transitional and fragile resource-rich countries, these challenges are even more profound. Conflict and political instability have weakened the capacity of state institutions to prepare financial models for expected revenues from oil, gas, and mining concessions. Without improving their financial modelling capacity, these countries will continue to lose significant resources.

Beneficiaries of the FIMES Project will gather to appraise and share success stories and lessons learnt during the implementation period. This webinar invites policy makers, regulators, extractive sector actors, and academia across the continent to discuss how to strengthen state capacity for natural resource revenue management. Supporting, resilience through enhanced domestic resource mobilisation helps position the African Development Bank as a strong advocate of inclusive, resilient development in resource-rich fragile states in Africa.
