The African Development Bank, jointly with the African Ministers Council on Water, the Organisation for Economic Development, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the World Bank, will host a workshop during World Water Week 2023. The session, titled Innovative Financing Mechanisms Toward Achieving Sustainable Development Goals 6 in Africa, will take place on 22 August from 11:00 - 12:30 CET (9:00 - 10:30 GMT).
It will focus on financial mechanisms in Africa's water and sanitation sector and examine progress and challenges in the achievement of access to water and sanitation for all. The session will share experiences from governments, financial institutions, philanthropies and the private sector. Participants will discuss the way forward in achieving access to water and sanitation. The workshop will showcase the African Water Facility as a multilateral fund for project preparation and investment promotion in Africa.
