Kenya: Kitui Becomes Latest County to Embrace Safaricom's MyCounty App

Nairobi — Kitui county in partnership with Safaricom has signed up for MyCounty app to increase its own-source revenue collections.

MyCounty app platform seeks to digitize county services for efficient operations.

The platform will offer services such as payment for county services, including parking and land rates, revenue management systems, a citizen reporting and engagement tool and solutions in areas of agriculture, health, utility bills and SME programmes.

It will also faccilitate the utilizing of 'Sema na Governor' feature, which offers direct communication with governors and share feedback towards improvement of county services.

"As we digitize our services to grow accessibility and efficiency in delivery,the MyCounty App platform will empower our citizens to conveniently access our essential county services as we also grow our own source revenue through digitization and technology," said Julius Malombe, Governor, Kitui County.

Kitui becomes the second county in the Eastern region to digitize its services through the platform.

11 counties, including Nairobi, Makueni, Kitui, Busia, Samburu, Bomet, Narok, Kilifi, Uasin Gishu, Kajiado and Elgeyo Marakwet have already signed up for MyCounty Applications.

Safaricom targets to roll out the platform to all 47 counties across the country.

"MyCounty app platform will help Kitui county to utilize technology in making county services accessible and convenient for all and more so increase their service delivery at an affordable cost," said Nicholas Mulila, Chief Corporate Security Officer, Safaricom PLC.
