Rwanda: Karongi Mayor Suspended Over Failure to Fulfil Duties

Karongi District Council on Monday, October 23, suspended Vestine Mukarutesi from the position of Mayor citing failure to accomplish her duties.

Mukarutesi was elected Mayor in September 2019.

A statement posted on the district's official X handle on Monday regarding her suspension read: "An extraordinary meeting of the district council of Karongi has taken a decision to suspend Madam Vestine Mukarutesi from the duties of leading the district because of failure to accomplish her duties as she should."
