24 October 2023

Nairobi — Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's spouse, Pastor Dorcas, has rallied for targeted interventions to support the boy child as part of effort to reverse what she has termed as deliberate underinvestment on boys over the years.

The Second Lady rooted for county-level initiatives during a meeting on Tuesday with officials of the County First Ladies Association.

Her office said the meeting attended by seven County First Ladies explored programs and opportunities where spouses of county governors can collaborate to scale up sub-national interventions.

"These programs are designed to make a positive impact on various segments of our society, including the boy child ,widows, orphans and persons with disabilities and are firmly rooted in chaplaincy, outreach and the promotion of family values," a dispatch read.

The inaugural meeting with spouses of county chiefs at the Deputy President's Official Residence in Karen also assessed gaps requiring policy interventions.

Pastor Dorcas assured the County First Ladies of her commitment to the success of programs including rehabilitation of street children and those struggling with alcohol dependence.

"I am committed to nurturing these collaborations and ensuring that they bear fruits as we work together to positively impact the lives of the boy child and the vulnerable individuals throughout all 47 counties in our nation," she stated.

Marsabit First Lady Allamitu Jattani, Saline Barchok (Bomet), Beatrice Sakaja (Nairobi), Dr. Emily Chesire (Baringo), Edna Lenku (Kajiado), Emily Nyaribo (Nyamira) and Rukia Abdinasir (Wajir) attended the meeting.
