Botswana: Speakers Pay Tribute to Township Rollers Official

Gaborone — Different speakers have described Township Rollers ladies football chairperson, Archie Serufho as an astute leader who knew how to work with the girl-child in women's football.

Speaking during his funeral on October 24, Botswana Football Association representative Keeng Mosinyi said the growth of women football in Botswana could also be attributed to Serufho.

She said Serufho was part of the league committee and during his tenure he delivered his mandate with distinction and he never complained.

"Archie worked very well with the region and the office and he never complained as his aim was to see women's football growth," she said.

Mosinyi said Serufho's team, Township Rollers ladies managed to produce quality players, amongst them Refilwe Tholakele and Sedilame Bosija, who are currently playing for Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.

"Archie was a great leader, even after leaving the league committee, he continued to advise, especially the Gaborone Region," she said.

Mosinyi said Rollers ladies were once was of the best teams in the league, and that could be attributable to the good leadership of Serufho.

Mosinyi pointed out that Serufho instilled discipline in his team, hence most of the players from Township Rollers, who currently play for other teams to date, were still disciplined.

Rollers chairperson, Bafana Pheto said Serufho joined the ladies team in 2016 as the chairperson, a position he held to date.

He said they were saddened by his untimely death given that though they were in constant communication regarding their women's team, he did not show any signs of discomfort.

Pheto said Serufho had good skills to work with women football players, adding that they were still wondering as to who would fill the void.
