Members of Parliament came together to eulogize the late three-time former minister and former member of Parliament for Jinja West constituency, Henry Kisada Kyemba.
The statesman, who left an indelible mark on Uganda's political landscape, was fondly remembered for his unwavering commitment to good governance, justice for all, and his humility that transcended political boundaries.
Despite the current opposition boycott of Parliamentary proceedings, the Leader of the Opposition, Mathias Mpuuga, emphasized the significance of paying tribute to the fallen statesman, stating,
"It was a matter of common sense to come back and honor a man of such stature."
The casket bearing Henry Kyemba's remains arrived at Parliament at 10 a.m., where it was received by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and a host of dignitaries.
The body then laid in state for public viewing before being brought into the hallowed Parliamentary chambers, where Legislators from all political affiliations paid their respects.
The motion to pay tribute was eloquently presented by the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East Africa, Rebecca Kadaga who described the late Kyemba as a statesman who tirelessly championed good governance, justice for all, and democracy throughout his political career.
Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga, who seconded the motion, underlined the Opposition's presence in the House despite the ongoing boycott.

He spoke highly of Kyemba, stating, "The late was an impeccable civil servant and politician with no scandal."
Dean of independents, Livingston Zijjan, echoed Mpuuga's sentiments, affirming Kyemba's unblemished record as a civil servant and politician.
Numerous other legislators shared their admiration for Henry Kyemba, highlighting his exceptional relationships with world leaders, his practice of mature politics, and his unwavering dedication to serving the people with humility.
Kyemba's distinguished career spanned various key positions, including Principal Private Secretary to both Prime Minister Apollo Milton Obote and President Amin, Permanent Secretary, and a minister in all three governments of Amin, Obote, and Museveni.
The late Henry Kyemba will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Bugembe, Jinja City, on Thursday, where his legacy as a true statesman and advocate for justice and good governance will live on.
