Police in Lira City are investigating a case of shooting at a bar that left two people nursing severe injuries.
The suspect has identified as Bosco Erac, the proprietor of Pite - Yela enterprises in Lira City West Division.
It is alleged that Erac, alias Pite-yela picked a quarrel with a group of people he was sharing a table with before each walked out of the pub to where they had parked their vehicles but the suspect drew a pistol, and started shooting at them
The North Kyoga regional police spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema identified the two victims who sustained injuries from the gunshot as Felix Atine, 37 and 22-year old Kenneth Ogwang.
"A case of attempted murder by shooting was reported at Lira City West Division police station and the two survivors were rushed to the hospital for medical attention," the police spokesperson said.
The suspect according to police also reported a case of assault against the victims, but was later disarmed and detained.
Okema said preliminary findings indicates the suspect and the two victims were quarreling over a waiter working at Feroz Pub along Oyite Ojok Lane in Lira City.
"The case is being investigated closely as we compiled the file for submission to state for perusal and legal advice. As police, we want to advise very strongly those holding pistol legally to know the circumstances why they applied and were issued with the pistols, otherwise they risked being withdrawn," SP Okema said.
