Kenya: KNUT Wants KNEC to Pay Teachers Promptly

Kisumu — The Kenya National Union of Teachers has asked the Kenya National Examination Council to pay teachers who invigilate, supervise, and mark national exams, which began today, in primary schools promptly.

KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu decried the late payment of tutors over the years.

Oyuu said teachers have already done their work by preparing candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment and should not be subjected to more misery.

Speaking in Siaya County, Oyuu told the Chief Executive Officer of KNEC, David Njeng'ere, to seize up the matter and ensure teachers get their dues in time.
