Kenya: Court Suspends Gazette Notice on ID, Birth, Death Certificate Fee Increment

Nairobi — The high court has suspended the two gazette notice, announcing the increment on levies and fees to those seeking to acquire National Identity card,birth and deaths certificates respectively.

Justice Lawrence Mugambi said that pending the hearing and application inter-partes, the two gazette notice and any other document relating to the increment shall remain suspended.

The judge directed the Applicant Dr. Magare Gikenyi to serve Cabinet Secretary Treasury, Cabinet Secretary Interior, the National Assembly and the Attorney General within a period of three days.

Justice Mugambi further directed the respondents, to file their response within a period of seven days and the matter be mentioned on 29th November to confirm compliance.

The government announced the increment through a gazzette notice dated 6th November,2023.
