Kenya: Police Allowed to Detain Suspects in Sh94 Million Quickmart Heist for Ten More Days

Nairobi — Police have been allowed to detain five suspects in the Sh94 million Quickmart Supermarket heist for 10 days to allow them to complete their probe.

The five suspects Ismael Patrick, Michael Matolo, Samuel Onyango, Martin Nderi and James Mbatia will be detained at Capitol hill police station until November 27, 2023 when the matter will be mentioned to confirm the progress of the investigation.

The presiding Magistrate Zainab Abdul observed in her ruling that quite a collosial sum of money was stolen from quick mart supermarket and police require time to carry out the investigation.

She further pointed out that the prosecution has stated that only Ksh1.9Million had been recovered and thus police need more time to investigate.

The court further ordered that Patrick, Matolo, Onyango and Mbatia be taken to hospital while Nderi be treated at the police station.

All the five suspects are employees of Wells Fargo security limited who are alleged together with their accomplices stole the money in question that was in transit from Quick mart to family bank limited.
