A total of 110,569 have kicked off their final Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education exams today, Monday, November, 13 in various centres around the country.

The exams will run until December, 1.

Speaking on Monday, UNEB spokesperson, Jennifer Kalule Musamba said the candidates have kicked off with History for arts students and Mathematics for science candidates.

"Of the candidates,43% (47,227) are females, while 57% (631,342) are males. At the UNEB centre at Upper Prison School Luzira, we have 34 candidates, of whom four are females, and 30 are males. We have a total of 2,103 examination centres. The special needs candidates are 243 in total, with only 70 requiring support personnel. The rest will only be given an extra 45 minutes," Kalule said.

She noted that UNEB has been able to deliver all the exam scripts to the respective stations around the country where the heads of centres picked them for candidates to begin writing.

The UNEB spokesperson warned candidates, teachers, headteachers and all those involved against exam malpractice.

"The board has massively deployed both covert and overt scouts and security personnel to closely monitor the conduct of the examination. The UACE candidates also need to be aware that they are adults, who can be tried in courts of law, once convicted," Kalule warned.

She said any person found indulging in malpractice will be dealt with in accordance with Section 25 (1) (2) and (4) of the UNEB Act 2021, which provides for a maximum sentence of ten years' imprisonment upon conviction, or a fine of between shs20 million and shs40 million.
