Kenya: President Ruto Says Kenyans Entitled to Ask CSs, PSs Questions

18 November 2023

Nairobi — President William Ruto has told Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries that Kenyans are entitled to ask questions and interrogate what government is doing and must be answered.

Speaking at the close of the two-day National Executive retreat that was held at the College of Insurance in Nairobi, the President stated that this will help them serve Kenyans better.

He further emphasised the need for an open and honest dialogue on the country's current state of affairs.

"The government is firmly focused on delivering results to Kenyans and steering ourt country to greater heights so that our tomorrow is better than yesterday," he said.

The retreat sought to review the progress made in the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Agenda since the Inaugural retreat held in January this year at Nanyuki.

During the just concluded retreat, the President acknowledged reception of invaluable feedback and appreciated the existence of gaps and available opportunities set to strengthen the Government's implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

The President also noted a host of progress made by the Government as seen set by the objectives agreed during the Nanyuki retreat earlier in the year.

"This would include, The successful roll-out of the Hustler Fund to Kenyans, the reduction of fertilizer prices by at least KES 4000, the recruitment of over 56, 000 teachers across the country, advancements in new financing models for students in higher education institutions and the creation of at least 50, 000 jobs through the roll-out of the affordable housing program," he stated.

Other achievements noted during the two-day retreat would include the disbursement of outstanding allocations to the County Governments as well as clearing all pending arrears of society's vulnerable groups.
