Kenya: Siaya Governor Orengo Says President Ruto Sabotaging Himself

2 January 2024

Kisumu — Siaya Governor James Orengo has told Kenyans to brace for a tougher 2024 if the end year speech by President William Ruto is anything to go by.

Orengo laughed off suggestions by President Ruto that his administration is being sabotaged.

He says the Kenya Kwanza Government has lost it and Kenyans must pull up together to live in the year 2024.

"I don't think we are going to have a good year and if there is any Kenyan living in denial, the Kenya Kwanza Government is a great disaster, it is an abomination upon the other," he said.

Orengo says what remains for Kenyans is to remain patriots and resist the oppressors.

"We must resist the oppression, unjustified taxations and try to use the law to oppress the Kenyan people," he said.

He questioned President Ruto why he feels his government is being sabotaged when he has bought almost the entire Parliament.

Orengo says the law is made in Parliament and he can use the legislators to undo and enact laws which he feels are friendly to him.

"There is nobody who is sabotaging President Ruto, he is the person who is sabotaging our institutions," he said.

Speaking in Nyando Sub County on Tuesday during the burial of a son to Luo Council of Elders chairman Odungi Randa who died on the Eve of Christmas, Orengo told Kenyans to prepare for the worst and do what is necessary to make life better.

He condoled with Ker Odungi, who is mourning his second born child in what was suspected to be a suicide.

Orengo asked the government not to use state machinery to divide the Luo Council of Elders.

He alleged support to Nyandiko Ong'adi who has claimed to be the bonafide 'Ker' of the Luo community.

"The courage that the other team is getting to do what they are doing is the encouragement they are receiving from offices in Harambee House and we are going to call them out," he said.

Orengo noted that there is no parallel leadership in the Luo community, noting that the community will stand as one.

He proposed building a palace for 'Ker' in Kisumu just like other Kingdoms in other African countries.

"This is now the 9th Ker, what we need to do is to build a palace and parliament hall in Kisumu where 'Ker' can meet the elder," he said.
