South Africa: Three Male Suspects Arrested for Stock Theft in Moeding Village

- Three African male suspects between the age of 27 and 52 were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation at Moeding village Dennilton policing area, Sekhukhune District, for stock theft in the early hours of Monday, 26 February 2024.

Members of Marble Hall Stock Theft and Endangered Spices (STES), Marble Hall and Motetema Crime Prevention during a joint operation in Moeding area received information about the suspicious minibus Toyota Quantum with three male occupants suspected to be transporting stolen cattle. Police activated the manhunt to trace the suspect and the minibus, fitting the description circulated, was seen in Leeufontein Road towards Marble Hall. It was stopped and searched.

The suspects admitted to having loaded three cattle at Moeding and offloading the cattle at a certain smallholding where the cattle were recovered. The cattle was identified by the lawful owner and handed back.

During police interviews, the smallholding owner denied any knowledge of the stolen cattle on his plot.

The suspects were arrested at the scene.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, welcomed the arrest of the suspects of stock theft, and praised the team for their swift response.

The trio will appear before Nebo Magistrate's court on Wednesday, 28 February 2024 for charges of stock theft.
