Kenya: KAA Redirects Travelers to JKIA's Terminal 1a As 1e Is Temporarily Closed Over Fire Incident

Nairobi — Travelers using Terminal 1E at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have been directed to use Terminal 1A after a faulty electrical incident that resulted in a fire.

However, KAA says that the incident was contained and that there were no injuries or casualties.

"Following this, power to Terminal 1E has been temporarily shut off as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all within our premises. KAA redirects travelers to terminal 1A as 1E is temporarily closed over fire incidentety of all within our premises," KAA posted on its X page.

"To mitigate any inconvenience this may cause, all flight arrival operations have been redirected to Terminal 1A until further notice."

Jkia is designed in a circular form, comprising terminals AI, 1B, 1C, and 1E for international arrivals and departures.

The temporary closure of the faculty is set to disrupt flyers traveling to and arriving from different locations due to overcrowding.

"KAA is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers, staff, and stakeholders at our facilities and is taking all necessary steps to minimize disruptions and return to normal operations as swiftly as possible."
